Atlatl Approaches!
Maybe (hopefully!) you've all seen our event on our Facebook page already. BUT for those of you who haven't liked us yet on Facebook (for shame, y'all!) here's an update on our annual, and most popular, event.
For over 15 years, the Annual Atlatl Competition has been- you guessed it- an annual institution at Blackwater Draw. The tradition continues this year as the Mu Alpha Nu Anthropology Club and Blackwater Draw host this beloved event . . . with a few tweaks! This year, Mu Alpha Nu is excited to offer a RAFFLE, as well as fun giveaways with beverage and food purchases! Where better to get some swag? Additionally, our new director will be giving a very special tour of the bonebed at 1:00 p.m., so make sure y'all stick around for that one. Check out our recent Facebook (and website) post on Dr. Brendon Asher for more info about him. Remember, friends, the gates open at 9:00 a.m. for practice, but the competition doesn't start until 10:00 a.m., so you will have time to pick up some skills! We have atlatls and darts for public use, although you are welcome to bring your own as well. We will also have the National regulations and rules posted, so rest assured that lawlessness will be contained. Our event is free, we never charge for entry or participation, but remember to bring cash to load up on hydrating beverages and snacks sold by Mu Alpha Nu. We hope to see you all there . . .
